Distance education: Is a Virtual Classroom for you?
Part 2
Positive aspects of Distance Education
·         Independence and time management: Taking courses online lets you hone your ability to work on your own. You also gain experience in managing your time efficiently.
·         A flexible schedule: Schools can only provide a certain number of class periods in a single school day, and there may not be enough time for you to take everything you want. But distance education lets you take classes outside regular school hours; it gives you the flexibility to explore all your areas of interest.
·         Advanced and specialized classes: Some schools can’t provide advance or specialized classes. Distance education gives you the chance to gain experience in areas that would otherwise remain out of reach

Alex Schwazer
Alex schwazer was the gold medal champion the Olympic race walk. He was later banned for using drugs. He stated he felt relieved that he was caught. In his own words, “I couldn't take it anymore”.  He gave a tear filled press conference admitting his use of illegal substances.
Reflection
Alex Schwazer chose do the wrong and for that he was banned for the Olympics. The good thing is that he recognizes that he did wrong. His conscience was hurting him. Having to live with the fact that he cheated to win a gold medal must have been hard on him. Perhaps if he didn't use the drugs he might have still won it but now he will never know. If anything he would have been able to say he did his best and did it honestly and fairly.
Distance Education: Is a Virtual classroom for you
Part 1

You may want to take a class that your high school does not offer.
Distance education means taking a class without being physically present where it is being taught. Internet based technology lets students participate in lectures and class sessions online from almost anywhere.
Some high schools agree to recognize distance learning credits when they font have the resources to offer a course themselves. Distance education is often used to increase options in rural areas and for AP Courses.
For you, it might mean doing self tutorial at home in the evening , or participating in a class that is 1.000 miles, or participating in a class that is 1,000 miles away, along with other high schools students. Check with your school counselor to see what is available.

Student Success Statement
“You must never be fearful about what you
are doing when it is right.”

Rosa Parks

Reflection

I believe that Rosa Parks speaks the truth. When you are doing the right there is nothing to fear because nothing bad can come of it. You can only be rewarded for doing the right. However remember that you should do the right because it is the right thing to do and not for the rewards. In contrast however if you are doing something illegal you will always have to fear the consequences of your choices. Listen to your conscience when it tells you not to do something.

Balancing highs school and Part- Time Work
Part 5
Additional tips
Although working and going to school is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you use some foresight. These tips can help you handle the situations and make the most of your time:
·         Discuss your plans with your family. Balancing the demands of school and work is easier with their support.
·         Start slowly, don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately.
·         Avoid time conflict by planning your class and work schedules as far ahead as possible.
·         Use your time efficiently. You can use ten minutes of waiting in a line to go over a few pages of assigned reading. If your job has a lot of down time and your boss has no objection, you can use slow periods to do your school work.
·         If you commute to your job on public transportation, bring your school work with you so you can work along the way.
·         Be flexible and willing to make sacrifices. You may have to cut down on other things you’d like to do because of your school and work commitments.
·         If you have too much on your plate admit it. Then cut back as needed.
·         Schedule relaxation time. Everyone needs some down time to stay happy and healthy.

Spring break
The past week was spring break for me. I really did not do anything out of the ordinary. I mostly stayed home and watched movies. I did go to the park twice to play basketball since it is near my house. Other than that I had homework to keep me busy. Unfortunately I had to read what I considered to be the worst book I have ever read.

Marion Jones’ rise played out on the world’s biggest stage; so did her fall
Summary
Marion johns participated in the Olympics and managed to win several medals. She won three gold medals and two bronze medals. At the time she couldn't have felt more accomplished or so people would think. However after some time she announced that she had lied to the officials and had used performance enhancing drugs. She was stripped of her medals and even sentenced to six months in prison.
Reflection
This is one example of how everything has a consequence. Marion chose to do the wrong by using drugs and paid the prize. She has lost her credibility in the eyes of people all over the world. It would have been better for her to do her best and competed honorably without the use of drugs and not have gotten a medal than for this to happen to her. Don’t do anything that you will regret because your choices have consequences and they will follow you wherever you go. Choose the right.

Balancing high school and part time work
Part 4
He reminds students that “the activities and courses students choose vary considerably, so it’s important for young people to keep their individual situations clearly in mind.” MacGowan continues, “For example, student actors should allow for the fact that they won’t have as much time during performance seasons. Student athletes need to remember the times of the year that they’ll be tied up with games and practices. Other students who are in classes that make considerable demands outside of the classroom must keep that in reality in mind.”
