This
quote is saying that in order to be successful you need to put effort into it.
These two things are linked together. If you want to be a doctor, how well a
doctor you will become shall depend on how much effort you put in. If you study
hard, do all your work, and always choose the right then it is inevitable that
you will become successful. In contrast if you put in little effort then your
chances and magnitude of success are lowered.
